Show Choir Competitions
March 6, 2023
Show Choir has been staying busy during competition season! In February, the Ambassadors group attended competition in Homewood, Alabama, and competed in large mixed division. Out of the 19 groups in attendance, they received fifth overall and advanced to finals. Additionally, Northwest’s very own Clay Nelson won grand champion for solo competition in tenor/bass! Clay said that he feels extremely proud and grateful to be named grand champion in solo competition. He said, “I’ve always enjoyed competing and I’m very pleased with my performance. My favorite part of competition is meeting new people and sharing our gifts with others. I enjoy getting to make new friends at competitions and especially support fellow solo competition competitors.” Upon being asked how show choir has shaped him, he said that it has shaped him into the hardworking and diligent person he is today. “Show choir has taught me to never give up in anything I do in life,” he says. “It’s given me the chance to make mistakes and learn from them and to continue to grow.” He says show choir is all about community, comradery, and supporting each other.
This weekend, (March 4th and 5th), the Ambassadors traveled to the Oak Grove Invitational. They placed second in the large division and second overall. They will compete again this Saturday at the Biloxi Invitational. Northwest couldn’t be more proud!
