HOSA State Competition

HOSA+State+Competition

Last week, HOSA competed at the State competition at Jackson Convention Center. It was a three-day long competition jam-packed with an array of health science events.  The JCC was full of students all trying to make the top three and make their school proud. To qualify for the national competition, you have to make the top three of your event. This goes for most events, but not all. The first day was solely dedicated to testing. Each student took a test for their respective categories.  If a student’s event had a skill, they would have to compete with other students to qualify for the skill that would be happening the following day. The final day was award day where both skills and test results would be announced. It was a huge success for Northwest Rankin as 8 students placed that day:

Mary Presley Eifling (2nd Place- Pharmacology Health)

Kendall Grant (2nd Place- Nutrition)

Katherine (Maddie) Hall (4th Place- Behavioral Health)

Mikaela Haynes (3rd Place- Pathophysiology Health)

Hannah LeFlore (2nd Place- Vet Science)

Kaydence Norman (3rd Place- Vet Science)

Eliana Salinas (2nd Place- Human Growth and Development)

Eltahir Zein (1st Place- Medical Spelling)

Congrats to all those who placed and to all of my fellow seniors! I am glad that I was able to compete for one last time with all of you. This year nationals will be held in Dallas, TX.
